FC America Advanced Three (3) Teams to the Elite Eight this Past Weekend and One Team to the Final Four

May 7, 2007 ... With the change in the State Cup format this year to single game elimination starting with the Sweet Sixteen Round and no seeding format, many good teams including past State Cup winners and Final Four participants were sent home early in the Sweet Sixteen round.

FC America had three teams advance to the Elite Eight this past Saturday, the u18 Omni boys and u18 Kumba girls and the u14 Omni boys. All three games on Saturday were extremely hard fought battles as the u18 boys won 1-0, the u18 girls won 3-2 and the u14 boys won in sudden death PK's.

On Sunday, the u18 boys and u14 boys were not as successful as they fought very hard but did not end up on the winning side. The u18 Kumba girls won in PK's after two overtime periods to earn a return trip to the final four for the 3rd time in four years!!
