FC America Omni U15 Boys Cruise to Memorial Title

June 1,  2010 ...  This weekend, the U15 boys team captured the 32nd FSA Memorial Day Tournament outscoring opponents 15-2. Omni started the weekend right, scoring its first goal of the campaign only 10 seconds into the game. They would go one to defeat Hunter's Creek 6-1. In the second game of the weekend, Omni took on the Port Orange Stingrays. The Stingrays put forth a good effort, but ultimately, it was not enough. A goal on either side of halftime; the first from Jai Nascimento and the 2nd from Finnian Smart proved to be enough as the boys went on to win 2-0. In the final game of group play, the boys needed a win or a tie to advance to the final. It was very apparent from the onset that the Renegades were not up to the challenge. The boys coasted into half-time up 3-0 and never looked back. Nati Einhorn added the forth, and the boys were ready for Monday's final.

While the game prior would delay the start by almost 30 minutes, the boys were unfazed. Omni got on the board first through Jai Nascimento's astonishing seventh goal of the weekend after 25 minutes. The lead would not last long as FSA struck back to level the score just before halftime (1-1). After halftime, the boys came out with renewed vigor and took the lead after Rian Barnett calmly tucked away what would prove to be the winner after an FSA foul inside the penalty area (2-1). However, FSA did not go away without a fight. Their comeback would prove to be a little more difficult after they had a player and a coach sent off with 25 minutes left in the game. Finally, Omni was able to shrug off the pesky attempts to equalize and dampen all hopes from FSA after Felipe Lima found Finnian Smart at the back post giving Omni the 3-1 victory.

Congratulations to coaches Chris Mills and Kareem Hariri and players Miguel Alvarez, Jongah Kim, Finnian Smart, Michael Ferrarini, Evan Wladis, Torin Thielhelm, Charlie Worker, Jordan Stewart, Jai Nascimento, Kyle Silver, John Birchall, Jordan Ocampo, Conor Klein, Nati Einhorn, Felipe Lema, Rian Barnett and Thomas Evans for their fantastic weekend!
